Over the years... This estate, located in the heart of the Orléans forest, in the communes of Saint-Jean-de-Braye, Boigny-sur-Bionne and Marigny-les-Usages, was a private property until 1946. At that time, the castle built in the late nineteenth century, is acquired by the City of Saint-Cloud for its holiday works. In 1974, Orleans bought the Charbonnière estate. In summer, the woods and castle become a leisure centre for the pleasure of children. Formerly used for the production of charcoal, the site has kept the name of this activity. A charcoal pit is a circular, hollow mound about 4 metres in diameter and about 50 centimetres high. Inside, the wood was installed, which once ignited, was covered with earth ©AF_Photos_Orléans
