Once a transit port between the Loire and the Orleans canal, Combleux has preserved many testimonials of this intense 19th century boating activity, which can be discovered along the water's edge. Several bargemen's houses, the beautiful canal controller's house at the very end of the Patache, as well as the lock keeper's house built in 1841... As for the Auberge de la Marine, it already existed in the 18th century and was called the Auberge des Deux Rivages. On the two jetties, on either side of the lock on the way down to the Loire, vestiges of port activities are still visible.
